Deaf/Hard of Hearing Role Model

This team member is usually an adult with hearing loss.  This person might be a culturally Deaf adult that communicates via American Sign Language, or someone that uses hearing amplification and communicates via spoken English.  The Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (which really goes beyond only infants) states: “Goal 11: All children who are D/HH and their families have access to support, mentorship, and guidance from individuals who are D/HH.”  This helps parents who’ve probably never encountered a person with hearing loss before their child was diagnosed normalize a new. and perhaps worrisome, diagnosis.
